How effective can ministry be if you only have three to four weeks in a location? That’s the question our Eastern European Expedition STINT team was constantly asking.
These past ten months, they traveled to the following nine cities to help launch ministries on their various university campuses:
Brussels, Belgium
Kaliningrad, Russia
Nizhny Novgorod, Russia
Tbilisi, Georgia
Khmelnytskyi, Ukraine
Rzeszow, Poland
Nitra, Slovakia
Subotica, Serbia
Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire
Most of these cities have no known active ministry happening, so they would scour the campuses looking for Christians, meeting with church pastors and others believers that might be of help. It was a breath of fresh air for these Christian students when they would connect them together and equip them with resources to do evangelism and discipleship on their campus.
All in all, they saw the Lord raise up 27 students from these nine different cities that wanted to start a ministry of evangelism and discipleship on their respective campus! These 27 Key Volunteers will then be distance coached by one of the Cru staff from that particular country.
A resounding “yes” appears to be the answer to the effectiveness of a few weeks of ministry! One of the team leaders, Vanya, said this during the debrief when asked what she learned:
It expanded my view of what God can do in such a short time, as well as impressed upon me the preservation of Christianity throughout history, despite all the persecution.
